The theme you’ve chosen for your slideshow will help you choose photos that will maximize the emotion you intend to evoke in your slideshow.

General Advice

Your digital photos
Digital photos are ideal for DVD slideshows. They will often times yield brighter results. Once you have chosen the digital photos you would like to include in your slideshow, you will want to put them in your desired order. To accomplish this, you will want to change the filename of each photo (example: 01.jpg, 02.jp, 03.jp, etc.)

Tip: Here’s a common situation – you have renamed 50 photos and you decide that you want change photo “41.jpg” to follow photo “06.jpg" instead. But you already have a photo named “07.jpg”. Instead of starting over and renaming all the files again, simple rename photo “41.jpg” to “06a.jpg” (add the letter “a” after the number 06). This will cause the photo to be placed after photo “06.jpg”. Problem solved!!

Your printed photos
Printed photos should be labeled in numerical order with a sticky note or lightly on the back with a pencil. Do not use a pen or marker as the ink can smear onto other pictures during transit.

Although we’ve never had an issue with sending and receiving printed photos through reputable shipping services, there is always an inherent risk when shipping your personal items. MySlide cannot be held responsible or liable for lost or damaged photos, videos, music CDs or any other items you send. It is for this reason that many customers prefer to either scan their printed photos themselves or take them to a local photo shop and have them scanned to CD. This way you can send us the CD and keep your original printed photos safely tucked away in that shoebox in your closet!

Choose your background music
Now it's time to choose which song or songs you want to play in the background of your DVD slideshow.

The amount of music you will need will depend on the number of photos and the desired pace of your slideshow. A fast paced show generally will require 4 seconds per photo. A slower, more peaceful show will generally require 8 seconds per photo. A good average to use is 6 seconds per photo. We will do our best to adjust the speed of the photos to end with the music. If this is not possible (for example you choose a classic rock song that lasts 20 minutes!) then we will fade the music out along with the last photo. We will do our best to choose an appropriate spot in the music to end the show.

Example time vs photos calculations:
  • Fast paced show: 75 photos x 4 secs. = 300 secs. (or 5 minutes)
  • Medium paced show: 40 photos x 6 secs. = 240 secs. (or 4 minutes)
  • Slow paced show: 25 photos x 8 secs. = 200 secs. (or 3 mins. 20secs.)

There are two ways music can be obtained. Either you can send us the CD or mp3 file you own, or we can purchase the music. Our price is $2.00 per song. If you elect to have us purchase the music, please send album name(s), track name(s) and track number(s) of your chosen music.

Send everything to us
Send us your photos, music CDs, video discs, etc. Please be sure to properly and safely send your items in appropriate packaging (cardboard boxes are better than padded envelopes). Package your items in Zip-lock storage bags. Write on the package “PHOTOS – DO NOT BEND”. We highly recommend that you ship your items through a reputable courier service that provides a tracking number. We will return your originals when the DVD slideshow is shipped.

Get ready for your slideshow!!
Once we receive your order, we will get right to work on production. Turn around time can vary between 10 days and two weeks – depending on the season and on the complexity of the project. Rush orders can be accommodated for an additional fee of 25% of your total order.

When production has been completed, we will send you the “proof” of your DVD slideshow. This will be a low resolution copy of your slideshow that you can play on your computer. This will give you the opportunity to review the slideshow before making your payment. Once you have approved the slideshow you will have the choice of paying by personal check, money order, credit card or through your Paypal account.

Please note: If you pay by personal check, we will send your DVD slideshow once your check has cleared. Thank you for your understanding.
